The meaning of the work we see printed on the cover and developed in the prologue: avoiding common mistakes of English speakers learning English. It is natural to make mistakes while learning, and can even learn from them when a teacher points out to us. However, we have good reasons for wanting to reduce their numbers as much as possible, for example, in our work or exams, or learn how to self-taught.
The text does not concentrate just on grammar, and in the dialogues and vocabulary, but in the deceptive similarities of many words, which can be misleading.
It explains, for example, that "translates" does not mean "Translate" (to translate) but "betrayed" and that "advert" is not "warn" (to warn) but "relate." Throughout the book you will find hundreds of examples like these.
As noted, the authors are not looking for the book teaches the language by itself, but is a useful adjunct to improve the mastery of that language. Both have taken the trouble to collect the most frequent errors and the main difficulties to resolve, in many cases before they arise.
